Hi, I’m Roni.

If you’re into labels, I’m a social media consultant and content creator. I’ve helped non-profits (inc. Africa Travel Association), businesses (inc. hotels and resorts) and individuals get better established on social media. Regarding content, I write, take pictures and make videos.

I’m also an avid social networker. I know people all over the world and I like linking them together. If you need something, let me know and I’ll try my best to help.

Biography

Roni Weiss was born in Oceanside, Long Island, New York.

Growing up in Snohomish County, Washington, Roni was active in sports and music, with his sports emphasis being ice hockey and his musical focus being the trumpet.

At the age of 10, Roni began attending Edmonds Community College, receiving an Associate’s Degree with Honors in 1996 at the age of 12.

Roni graduated from Lynnwood High School in 1999 at the age of 15.

From 1999-2002, he attended the University of Washington, graduating with double degrees in English (with a Literature emphasis) and Drama. During his time in the UW School of Drama, he was highly active in acting, writing, directing and producing. Roni’s “Big Idea” festival was a week-long, multiple-venue festival in which he served as the Executive Producer.

Starting in 2004, Roni began what became a series of global trips. Over the course of less than a year in 2007-2008, Roni visited 6 continents. He has taught English in Italy, Taiwan, France and Chile and has visited 70+ countries, including every country in Europe.

Currently, he is a panelist on Don’t Worry About The Government, a weekly political podcast which was listed on iTunes’ “New & Notable” and an organizer for Travel Talk on Twitter, the biggest travel event on Twitter, which receives tens of millions of impressions on the #TTOT hashtag every week.

He has also been featured on Influencers In Travel’s list of the Top 50 Independent Online Influencers in Travel, Washington Flyer’s Top 100 Blogs of 2011 and has consistently been on TravMonkey’s Top 100 Travel Sites (which is measured via Google search traffic). With a Klout score in the 60′s, he has been listed as one of the top influencers in travel on social media.

In November 2011, he launched RW Social, a boutique social media consulting and content creation firm.

Blog disclaimer: Sometimes I get stuff for free. If it’s an event, there is a good chance that I am there as a member of the press and did not pay the normal consumer charge. If it’s something offered to me on a press trip, etc., I’ll try to do a good job of letting you know that it’s been arranged for me. If you disagree with any of my opinions or feel I’m “in the bag” for someone, feel free to comment/e-mail me and I’ll address your concerns.

Mind if I ask how you financed all that travel? Was it really from teaching English or is there some sort of …. trust fund… or inheritance? Curious how you manage to pull it off.

By being incredibly cheap and having amazingly wonderful CouchSurfing hosts.

There really is no money behind me beyond that which I make.

If you want full disclosure, in total, I probably get a couple hundred bucks for birthdays and less than that for Hannukah.

And a big thing is that I didn’t have student loans. But I maintain that if I did, I would have gone off to S. Korea for a year or two to pay them off.

When I lived at Mammoth (a ski resort in California), everyone else was broke and I saved 6k over 6 months.
